Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in International Politics (University of Milan)
Mariangela is passionate about Italian, her native language. She grew up and went to college in Italy, where she graduated from the University of Milan with a Bachelor’s degree in International Politics. Her background makes her intimately familiar with the subtleties of the language, cultural, geographical, historical references, and with everyday Italian culture.
While attending college in Italy, she enjoyed tutoring middle school and high school students in different subjects, including Italian. In the United States, Mariangela has been working as a freelance translator and interpreter on and off for several years, and spent eight years working as a market research analyst for a Carmel-based media research and consulting company.
Mariangela enjoys teaching Italian to students of all ages, whether it be small children—she taught Italian to her American-born children, who are now bilingual—college, high school, middle school, and elementary school students, travelers or corporate clients.
She is a flexible person who can adapt to different learning styles and likes to create individualized learning plans for each student, based on her/his goals, needs, and interests. Mariangela believes that students learn better when they are exposed to real life situations through speaking, listening, reading, and writing in the target language. She likes to share her knowledge of Italian cultural norms and practices as an integral part of her lessons.
