Lisa has a B.A. degree in German and English with a minor in Political Science from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. and an M.A. degree in International Policy Studies and German from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. She spent 9 years as a camper and counselor at Waldsee German Language Villages (a total immersion summer camp) run through Concordia College in Bemidji, MN. During her Junior year of High School, she spent three months in Graben-Neudorf, Germany as an exchange student living with a German family and attending Gymnasium while there. She also studied at the University of Paderborn during her Sophomore year of college, tutored German and English in college and started a program called “Deutsch fur Kinder” with two friends. She has spent the last 13 years teaching pre-school in Carmel Valley and raising her own two children.

She has experience in various learning styles and teaching methods and is eager to work with students of all ages and all ability levels. Her motto in teaching is one she learned as a camp counselor, “Immer flexibel, immer positiv und immer bereit.” Which means, “always flexible, always positive and always ready.”
